Hey everyone! I have some heartwarming news to share. We’re fostering the most adorable little Boston Terrier named Rosie, and she’s already stolen our hearts.
We are providing a home for Rosie who is currently up for adoption through Fly With Me Animal Rescue. They do amazing work bringing dogs up from high-kill shelters in Georgia to give them a second chance at life – and love – here in Halifax. If you’re a dog lover like I am, you might want to check them out and consider volunteering, making a donation, or maybe even adopting a rescue dog still waiting to find his or her forever home.
As of today, we’ve had Rosie for three weeks, and when we first picked her up, it was pretty clear this little girl had been through some tough times. She was skittish and scared of everything. Even something as simple as us moving too quickly would make her jump. She will still hide in a corner when we move to pick her up, but she lets us do it, even though it’s scary for her.
We’re pretty sure she came from a puppy mill where she wasn’t treated well, which breaks our hearts to think about. But here’s the amazing thing – despite everything she’s been through, she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Not even a hint of aggression. She may still be frightened and nervous about being handled, but she now jumps for joy each morning when she sees us rise from bed. She prances around excitedly, then plays with her reflection in the big mirror. It’s the cutest thing.

What’s been most incredible to watch is how she is slowly coming out of her shell. Each day, we see little improvements that make us smile and celebrate. Last night, she curled up on the sofa with Laura who rubbed her back while we watched a movie. It might seem like a small thing, but it feels like a huge victory every time she allows us to touch her and is able to relax.
She’s a smart, sweet dog and it’s so nice to see her slowly figuring out that she’s safe now.
Fostering this little angel has been very rewarding, and it’s a reminder of how much love and patience can heal even the deepest wounds. We’re honored to be part of Rosie’s journey toward finding her forever family, and we know that with time, the right family will discover what a treasure she truly is.
Rosie is 6 years old and 15lbs. If you’re interested in adopting her or seeing other adoptable rescue dogs, visit Fly With Me Animal Rescue for more information. Or check out their Instagram page to see pictures and videos of dogs currently in need of forever homes.
